My Favorite Hawaiian Island - Kauai

Kauai Island is farther north and west than the other major Hawaiian Islands. It has mountains, valleys and many beaches which make it my favorite Hawaiian island.
My Favorite places to see in Kauai are the Na Pali Coast, Poipu Beach Park, Waimea Canyon and don't forget about tasting all of the wonderful food that Kauai has to offer. Don't forget about all of the wild chickens running around the island and don't be alarmed when your morning wake up call is actually a rooster outside your window.
The Na Pali Coast is absolutely amazing, it feels like you are on another planet. We took a boat ride up to the Na Pali Coast. The boat ride is not for the faint of heart or for those that get easily sea sick. But if you can make it up the coast, it well worth it. To make it even more amazing depending on what time of year you go you will also see humpback whales at their finest, putting on a spectacular show.
There are some great Luau's on the island and an absolute must, especially for a first time visitor. We went to the Smith Family Garden Luau and had an amazing time.
If you are in the Poipu area be sure to check out Brennecke's Beach Broiler for pupu platters and some famous Hawaiian shave ice at Waikomo Shave Ice. For the best hot dog around go to Puka Dog and have a famous Hawaiian style hot dog made with polish sausage.
